1. Course Reflection: Discusses how I learned about my own human experience throughout the class
2. Dear Andrew Letter: A letter to introduce myself to the professor at the beginning of the semester. This allowed the professor to learn about his students so that he could help them and have a more personal relationship
3. Annotated Bibliography and Reflection: This assignment was used to evaluate a topic and issue that is relative to the topic of my Practicum assignment of observing meteorologists. I discuss the struggles that come with being a meteorologist and use ten different sources to back up the opinion on the topic.
4. Contemporary Literacy Project: A project where I learned how what it is like to be a meteorologist and how one goes about becoming one. The purpose of this was so that it could be made clear what it is like to be a meteorologist and the steps to become one.
5. Practical Proposal: An assignment where I told my professor my idea for my Practicum project. I told Professor Brown that I wanted to observe a meteorology student here at UNCC.
6. Practicum Day-Book Observations: The entire journal of my observations made while spending a couple months with a senior meteorology student here at UNCC, named Ricky Matthews. Ricky taught me about not only the weather, but what it is like to be a meteorologist and certain pros and cons that come with that career.
7. Mix and Mingle: An in class assignment that was done during the very beginning of the semester where students walked around the room to meet one another and find people that met qualifications for each question on the worksheet. The purpose of this assignment was for everyone to meet each other and get to know everyone.
8. The Lovely Bones Prompts and Reflection: During the semester the book, The Lovely Bones, was read by students and afterwards there were a few essays and prompts written about the book, its symbolism, meaning, and overall effectiveness in our class.
9. Word Clouds: This is a collage of words from the Immodest Proposal that emphasized certain words that were mentioned a lot more through out the assignment. Words were portrayed in a way that readers would be able to look at it and use those key words to decide what the literacy project would be about.
10. Pivot Questions: a group interview that was conducted where common pivot questions were asked so different people's opinions could be shared and interviews could be conducted in a relaxed manner.
11. Many Mayas: This was an in class exercise done that taught students how pieces of literature can be interpreted differently based on the way that the info is portrayed. This assignment gave us a poem by Maya Angelo but it was given or read to us in different ways so that it affected our senses differently and thereby affecting our interpretation of it.
12. Making the Lists: This was a group activity where we worked in groups and shared opinions on pop culture and what kind of artists, music, and actors are influencing our society today.
13. Human Experience Criteria: This was an assignment completed where students decided what the difference is between a human and a human being. Also, students decided what they believed the qualifications are to be a part of a human experience.
14. Solmon's Judgments: This was a peer review for the annotated bibliography that was completed where another student looked over the sources that were found for the project to determine if they were reliable and met the credentials to be used for the project.
15. A Meme of Me and Reflection: This was an assignment where students created a Meme that had something to do with themselves. I did my Meme on being a Meteorologist since that was what I plan to get a degree in them. This assignment allows others to see how different people in society view meteorologists and the work that they do.
16. Wild Card 1: This is an essay about Deforestation that I wrote for my "Humans Transforming the Earth" class that I took the fall of 2014. I chose this assignment to be displayed because an student in with a major in the Earth Science department, I care about the environment and the harmfulness of deforestation.
17. Wild Card 2: This wild card is a collection of pictures that portrays my love for traveling. I love adventure and taking pictures of places I've visited so that I will be able to look back at the good times I had. The first picture is in Times Square, NYC where I went to see the ball drop on New Years Eve this past winter when it became 2015. It was a great experience to have been a part of. The second picture is of me skiing down some very snow covered trails in northern Vermont where my family vacations sometimes. The third picture is a picture of my plane ride to Puerto Rico of Summer 2014. I love flying, looking at the clouds, and getting a birds eye view of the Earth. I also took the picture of the NYC skyline that is the main background of this portfolio. It turned out to be a very good picture.
